**NEW Canada Greener Homes Grant**
Homeowners can receive up to $5,000 to make energy efficient upgrades to their homes. Solar power systems can receive a rebate of $1.00/W up to $5,000. Battery installations such as Tesla Powerwall can receive up to $1,000.
City of Edmonton - Change Homes For Climate
The City is offering Edmontonian's $0.40/watt towards the cost of the solar power system to a max rebate of $4000.
Emissions Reduction Alberta
ERA’s new Energy Savings for Business program—a funding opportunity to support small- and medium-scale industrial and commercial businesses—is awarding up to $55 million for cost-saving and emissions reducing projects. The program will help Alberta businesses reduce emissions, decrease operating costs, grow their operations and become more competitive, while creating skilled jobs and boosting economic recovery.
The projects are anticipated to account for lifetime greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions of 1.1 million tonnes of CO₂, create about 1,400 (direct and indirect) jobs and drive $300 million in economic activity—providing a positive five times benefit to Alberta’s GDP.
Alberta Municipal Solar Funding
Municipalities in Alberta can submit multiple applications, but each municipality can only apply for rebates up to $1.5 million, including any bonuses.
Municipalities must engage the public as part of the project.
Receive a rebate per watt of total installed capacity ($/W), up to 30% of eligible expenses, as per the table below.
Total Installed Capacity (DC)
<10 kilowatts $0.90/watt
10 kilowatts to <150 kilowatts $0.75/watt
150 kilowatts to <2 Megawatts$0.60/watt
2 Megawatts to 5 Megawatts$0.55/watt
Tip: First time applying? Get a bonus rebate of $0.25/watt (maximum of $250,000) is available to municipalities that have not previously participated
Alberta Municipal Recreation Energy Funding
Municipalities and community-related organizations are able to access up to $750,000 for all projects.
Get funding for scoping audits and engineering studies that inform investment decisions. Then access more funding for implementing energy efficient retrofits.
The following facility types—that use complex and high energy consuming systems—are eligible:
Did you know: The average simple payback time for projects is typically reduced from 10 to 2.5 years!
